Hello and welcome back to my YouTube channel...anyways it's ya girl ready to give a quick little post about what I was up to today. Today we went through some more orientation subjects and some more legal paperwork. We also learned about some of the modismos Chileans say. LISTEN! I know that I have the advantage that I speak Spanish very well (up for debate, but Latinxs sound differently, cachai. See I used it there. They use po, cachai, they drop letters, its beautiful.
We then had a beautiful, super fancy dinner in Valparaiso before we left for Santiago the next day. It was a good way to relax and be bad and boujee for a day (okay tuition i see you). To be honest I didn't know how to read the menu so I kind of just based it off what I like so I got camarones, mashed potatoes and a salad.
My favorite part of the night was the trek to the restaurant and back. THERE ARE SO MANY MURALS. I love all the artsy aspects of the neighborhood and I'm all about the political and activist themes. These two pictures stood out to me because they represent that power struggle and it's so out and open.
Alright, it's time for the "Deep" Daily Post. I think the murals and the artwork is a pre-face to what is embedded in Chile's history. I know some of it based off of some outside research and Spanish classes, but it is very prevalent in their society today. I am excited to see this dynamic play out, especially in the aspects of movilizaciones estudiantiles cause that's where the activist culture is at.
🌞✌🏽THE END
